soul Brotha numero uno here with a late 80's radio mix. The show "In control; Rap Show" on 107. 5 WBLS hosted by Marley Marl. 10-11-1988 to be exact. This 43 minute mix is full of now classic hip hop tracks as well as some classic breaks- K-Solo, Epmd, Special Ed, Cheryl Lynn, BPD, etc full of doubles, scratching and clean mixing. Flava of the Month
Flava of the Month is a party that the bay's Triple Threat dj's (Apollo, Shortkut and Vinroc) throw at Milk on Haight St., hosted by the hypest hype man in the yay, Fran Boogie. This Mix is one of my favorite, if not my favorite triple threat mix. But, I think it gets overlooked by the general public and their fans. This was recorded live in September of 2003 at the themed party. All disco, all funky, all good music.
You'll hear tracks from the likes of Kano, the Jacksons, Chic, Mcfadden & Whitehead, Indeep, Young & Co., etc....

Jazzy Jeff switching it up on y'all
Most people know DJ Jazzy Jeff as 1/2 of one of the dopest MC/Rapper Duo in music history. Others, from television. Others from being one of the if not the best DJ on the planet, still! He's in my top 5, and most others top lists as well.
On this mix "In the House", Jeff ventures on a house music tip. This isn't surprise to anyone who knows something about the Philly sound; hip hop, house, jazz, r&b, club, whatever...The city breeds great musicians and good music is good music. And, Jeff presents it well on this 3 CD box set.

It's a big mama thang
One of the perc's from owning a store is that you get tons of promotional stuff thrown at you. This is a mix I got a few years back promoting Mama Clothing. DJ Zita keeps a Female/relationship theme throughout the mix. The mix is a little over 50 minutes with the likes of the Fugees, LL Cool J, Mary J., Nas, Salt n Pepper, etc..

DJ FIVE Mixwell mix
Remember this brand? They put out some dope product. When I owned the record shop in Sacto, we always tried to keep Mixell in stock. Anyway, to the mix... Mixwell put on a mix contest about 5 years ago and DJ Five was one of the finalists in the competition. I forgot how, but I accumulated quite a few of the finalists' mixes. All were pretty dope. A lot of dope scratching on this one. Music is your typical underground jams at the time (Wu, Dilated, Blackalicious, etc..).
I believe Five was working at Hiphopsite in Vegas at the time.
Nowadays, you can catch Five all over the country and in his hometown, Vegas tearing the fuggin clubs up.
