DJ FIVE Mixwell mix

Remember this brand? They put out some dope product. When I owned the record shop in Sacto, we always tried to keep Mixell in stock. Anyway, to the mix... Mixwell put on a mix contest about 5 years ago and DJ Five was one of the finalists in the competition. I forgot how, but I accumulated quite a few of the finalists' mixes. All were pretty dope. A lot of dope scratching on this one. Music is your typical underground jams at the time (Wu, Dilated, Blackalicious, etc..).
I believe Five was working at Hiphopsite in Vegas at the time.

Nowadays, you can catch Five all over the country and in his hometown, Vegas tearing the fuggin clubs up.

Spoof-rocc

Don't be fooled by this photo; the DL link is not a comp. filled with rihanna, fergie, akon and others..

Remember these compilations; "now that's what i call.."? Well, this post isn't one of 'those' mixes. Rather, a spoof mix from a series J-Rocc put out around 2002-2003.

This is vol. 2 in the series...a 20 track mix of current underground hip hop (in 2003ish).

The Greatest DJ name ever

10 years ago, the backpack was iconic in the underground hip hop scene. "Self", a mixtape by Innernational's DJ Rip-One was synonymous to the scene at the time. Although, not a big fan of his track selection, Rip One's execution and the thought he put into this mix, coupled with his advanced technical skills made me a fan. Plenty of scratching, multi-tracking and movie/film drops throughout.
